Talk to the Paw by Melinda Metz is an adult feel good novel about a cat who sees it as his job to bring people together.
Thirty-four-year-old, Jamie Snyder, moved to LA to put herself first. It is her "year of me" and that means no distractions and absolutely NO men! Jamie is ready to figure out who she is and what she wants to do with her life, but her stubborn tabby, MacGyver, has other plans.
MacGyver knows his human is lonely. So, he starts sneaking out of the house and breaking into neighbor houses to bring back "gifts" for Jamie to help her find a potential packmate. Some boxers, sasquatch socks and a speedo later, he thinks he's found a winner. David is a widower and baker who has the same lonely smell as Jamie. The two hit it off when they accidentally meet but both know they are not ready to be involved, so it's a good thing that MacGyver is determined!
As more possessions begin showing up around the neighborhood, cat burglar MacGyver may just have gone too far!
This was just a fun, feel good read for anyone who is looking for something light, with a little romance and a few laughs. I am totally and completely NOT a cat person, but I still found MacGyver and his antics funny. Who knew I'd like an adult read with a cat as one of the narrators.
I don't know that there is too much to say about this one. It was a sweet read. I liked David, Jamie and all of the side characters. You have all your typical neighborhood tropes; your nosy neighbors, teens, kids, working single mother, and more. I'd actually love to see an artists rendering of the neighborhood because all of the houses sound adorable!
This book came to me when I needed a light read and it definitely served it's purpose. So, for this reason, it gets 4 stars from me.
That's all for now!
