Baby Storytime – 3/26/18

Back for another week of baby storytime!

Here’s what we did:

  1. Rhyme – Welcome, Welcome Everyone

Welcome, welcome everyone. Now you’re here, we’ll have some fun. First we’ll clap our hands just so. Then we’ll bend and touch our toes. Welcome, welcome everyone. Now you’re here, we’ll have some fun! (tune-Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)

  1. ASL – Hello Friends

  2. I like to use sign language in my story time. We go over the signs for: Hello, Friends, Time and Say. Thanks to Jbrary for this one!

  3. Song – Wheels on the Bus

  4. Everyone knows this one and it has some really simple movement for our babies.

  5. Finger Stretch – Fingers Like To…

  6. This is a fun one and is great to work on moving those fingers

Fingers like to wiggle waggle, wiggle waggle, wiggle waggle. Fingers like to wiggle waggle, wiggle waggle, wiggle waggle WAY UP HIGH! Fingers like to wiggle waggle, wiggle waggle, wiggle waggle. Fingers like to wiggle waggle, wiggle waggle, wiggle waggle WAY DOWN LOW! How else to fingers like to wiggle? (wiggle on different body parts)

  1. I like to pass out one of the books so we can all follow along. I also give the caregivers a few minutes to read the book one-on-one as well.

  2. Puppet Rhyme – Alligator, Alligator…

Alligator, alligator, long and green  Alligator, alligator, teeth so mean Snapping at a fly, snapping at a bee, Snapping at a frog, but you can’t catch me!

  1. Rhyme – Row, Row, Row Your Boat

  2. Simple movement rhyme to do together.

  3. Song – Tap Your Toes and Follow Me by Susan Salidor

  4. This is a song with minimal movements, perfect for baby storytime.

  5. Bounce – Zoom, Zoom, Zoom We’re Going to the Moon

  6. I love this one mainly because it ends with a countdown and a lift.

Zoom, zoom, zoom we’re going to the moon. Zoom, zoom, zoom we’re going to the moon. If you want to take a trip, climb aboard my rocketship. Zoom, zoom, zoom we’re going to the moon. 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 BLASTOFF!

  1. love using this one in baby storytime. Because every time I read “overboard” we tip our babies over.

  2. Shakers – If your happy and you know it give a shake…

If your happy and you know it give a shake. If your happy and you know it give a shake. If your happy and you know it and you really want to show it, if your happy and you know it give a shake. (shake it fast / shake it slow / shake it high / shake it low)

  1. Song w/ Shakers – Mr. Sun

  2. Any version is great to shake to.

  3. Bubbles – Bubbles by Parachute Express

  4. Bubbles are great for strengthening eye muscles and for learning to move the eyes the same way we track words when we read.

  5. ASL – Goodbye Friends

  6. We learn to say goodbye in ASL and use the same signs and song as our hello.

  7. Song – Goodbye, So long, Farewell My Friends by Music Together

  8. Just a slow, goodbye song I always put on as I open the doors to say goodbye.

How’d it go: After rushing around all morning it was great to take a break with some babies! Everything went really well. We pretty much followed my outline and had a good time.
