1. ASL – FISH / SWIM / WATER

1. For my babies I teach them three vocabulary words in American Sign Language each week. We do a lot of repeats and stick to the easy movement signs. I generally use Baby Sign Language.com to check my signs.

3. This is one of my favorite movement songs for babies. Simple easy movements you guys can do together.

4. Board Book – Water by John Hutton
   

5. I thought this was a fun one. I pass these board books out to encourage one-on-one reading.

6. Rhyme – The waves in the sea
   

7. Just like wheels on the bus but in the ocean!

The waves on the sea go up and down, [Raise and lower arms.] Up and down, up and down, The waves on the sea go up and down all day long. The shark in the sea goes snap snap snap… [Clap your hands.] The fish in the sea go swish swish swish… [Swish back and forth.] The boats in the sea go toot toot toot… [Make blowing horn motion.]

1. I keep adding this one because not surprisingly, it brings the group back if they begin to lose interest. Annnd we get it stuck in our heads all day.

One elephant in the bathtub Going for a swim. Knock, Knock (Clap twice) Splash, Splash, (Slap knees twice) Come on in! (Motion with both hands to come in) Repeat up to ‘Five’ Five elephants in the bathtub Going for a swim. Knock, Knock, Splash, Splash, They all fell in! (Knock everything off the flannel board!) 3. Time to lift those babies!

Going up and down in an elevator. Up and down in an elevator. Up and down in an elevator. 1st floor. 2nd floor. 3rd floor. DOWN!

2. My favorite bounces end in a hug!

I bounce you here, I bounce you there I bounce you, bounce you everywhere. I tickle you here, I tickle you there I tickle you, tickle you everywhere. I hug you here, I hug you there I hug you, hug you everywhere.

4. Bubbles are great because when we track the bubbles with our eyes, we are actually strengthening the eye muscles we later use when we learn to read.
