Baby Storytime – 11/25/19
- Hello Rhyme – Welcome, Welcome Everyone
- This is a slow easy hello rhyme
- This is a slow easy hello rhyme
Welcome, welcome everyone.
Now you’re here, we’ll have some fun.
First we’ll clap our hands just so.
Then we’ll bend and touch our toes.
Welcome, welcome everyone.
Now you’re here, we’ll have some fun!
- ASL – The More We Get Together
- Today, I thought we’d do a nice thankful type ASL rhyme. I teach the signs for: More, Together, Time, Say and Friends. Then we do the rhyme a few times together with our signs. I generally use Baby Sign Language.com to check my signs.
The more we get together
Together, together
The more we get together
The happier we’ll be
‘Cause your friends are my friends
And my friends are your friends
The more we get together
The happier we’ll be
- Song – Roll Your Hands by Toddler Parade
- This is a nice slow song with simple movements to do with baby.
- Board Book – Llama, Llama Gives Thanks by Anne Dewdney
- I love the llama books. I pass these out to encourage one-on-one reading.
- Flannel – 10 Fat Turkeys – Flannel or storyboard
- I have ten flannel turkeys and we will read the story and use both the flannels and our fingers.
- Dance – Turkey Hokey Pokey
- The hokey pokey but we are pretending to be turkeys!
You put your wings in, You put your wings out.
You put your wings in and you shake them all about
You do the turkey pokey and you turn yourself around
That’s what it’s all about
Also: …drumsticks (legs), tail feathers (bottom), stuffing (tummy),wattle (head), whole turkey self
- Rhyme – I’m A Little Turkey
I’m a little turkey, my name is Ted.
Here are my feathers, here is my head.
Gobble, gobble, gobble, Is what I say,
Quick! Run! It’s Thanksgiving Day!
- Book/Puppets – Thank You Bear Greg Foley
- Thanksgiving is about being thankful, so I thought this would be a nice book to read together. I may or may not use puppets.
- Lift – Up, Up, Up
- Get those arm muscles ready and lift those babies!
Up, up, up (lift baby up)
Down, down, down (bring baby back down)
Up, down, up, down (up and down motion)
And tickles all around (tickle baby)
- Bounce – Wobble, Wobble, Wobble
- This one is in place of our lap bounce.
Wobble, wobble, wobble walks the turkey (rock back and forth)
Gobble, gobble, gobble talks the turkey (talking motion with hands)
Turkeys spread their feathers on Thanksgiving Day (spread your arms)
Turkeys spread the feathers and they fly away! (flap your arms & scarf)
- Song/Shaker – Put on my dancing shoes by Kathy Reid-Naiman
- Time to break out those shaky eggs!
- Song/Bubbles – Bubbles by Parachute Express
- Bubbles are great because when we track the bubbles with our eyes, we are actually strengthening the eye muscles we later use when we learn to read.
- Goodbye Rhyme – Now it’s Time to Say Goodbye
Now it’s time to say goodbye,
Say goodbye,
Say goodbye,
Now it’s time to say goodbye,
I’ll see you all next week.
- Song – Clean It Up by Laurie Berkner
- Song – Goodbye, So Long, Farewell by K. Guilmartin
How’d it go:
We totally needed a music song between our two books but other than that, we all had fun being (not eating) turkeys!
That’s all for now!
