Baby Storytime: 10/7/19
- Hello Rhyme – Wake Up Feet
- This is a fun movement rhyme for the babies.
Wake up feet, wake up feet
Wake up feet and wiggle, wiggle, wiggle
Wake up feet, wake up feet
Wake up and wiggle in the morning.
(Also: hands, ears, knees, fingers, hips, etc.)
- ASL – BABY / MILK / DIAPER
- For my babies I teach them three vocabulary words in American Sign Language each week. We do a lot of repeats and stick to the easy movement signs. I generally use Baby Sign Language.com to check my signs.
- Song – Fingers, Nose and Toes by Cedarmont Kids
- A simple, slow movement song.
- Board Book – Home Sweet Home by Little Friends
- These are big flap flippers and can be read or used to point out the animals. I pass these out to encourage one-on-one reading.
- Rhyme – Open and Shut Them
- We all know this one and it is perfect for the babies.
Open, shut them
Open, shut them
Give a little clap, clap, clap!
Open, shut them
Open, shut them
Lay them in your lap, lap lap.
Creep them crawl them , creep them crawl them
Right up to your chin, chin chin
Open up your little mouth
But do not let them in!
- Song – Skinamarink
- I think I like doing this one more than anyone else.
- Finger Play – Baby’s Fingers
These are baby’s fingers (touch fingers)
These are baby’s toes (touch toes)
This is baby’s belly button (touch stomach)
Round and round it goes! (tickle)

- Song/Shakers – Mr. Sun by Raffi
- Time to pass those shakers out and wiggle, wiggle, wiggle!
- Song/Bubbles – I Took a Bath in a Washing Machine by Jim Gill
- Bubbles are great because when we track the bubbles with our eyes, we are actually strengthening the eye muscles we later use when we learn to read.
- Goodbye Rhyme – Our Hands Say Thank You
Our hands say thank you with
A clap, clap, clap;
Our feet say thank you with a
Tap, tap, tap.
Clap, clap, clap!
Tap, tap, tap!
We roll our hands around, and say,
“Good-bye.”
